Kairos — September Opportunity Target (2026-08-11)

Decision frame

Robertas has supplied a real acceptance contract for September, not merely a topic. The Mysterium board meets at the end of the first week of September to allocate future resources. Kairos is being asked to influence that decision with a written, comparable opportunity portfolio circulated three days before the meeting.

The immediate decision is whether 3–5 candidates are realistic in the time remaining. Corrected recommendation after Lee's second 2026-08-11 challenge: 3–5 is realistic only as a screening portfolio. Do not call those candidates “tested” merely because they have comparable pages, red-team attacks and kill conditions. Deepening one or two toward decision-grade evidence is ambitious but credible. A proper torpedo is conditional; aim to prepare one complete torpedo contract and launch at most one only if its prerequisites clear early enough for interpretable measurement. Lock the dates, agreement and access path now, and preserve the existing Mammoth boundary before material pursuit.

What the brief actually requires

The unit of work is a candidate opportunity, not a validated business and not a built product. Each page must establish:

The pages must share one structure, include at least one internal and one external candidate or an evidenced reason one side is empty, and end in a ranked recommendation. A rejection log is part of the deliverable, not discarded working material. The live-context system supports the hunt but cannot be counted as one of the opportunities.

Inventory verdict and feasibility correction

Verified: Kairos already has substantially more than 3–5 candidate hypotheses. The initial 2026-07-06 alpha-hunt generated 19 and retained a top-five survivor set at that stage. Later work produced further external possibilities in Kairos — Node Use-Space (2026-07-31) and seven internal opportunity candidates in Kairos — Mysterium All-Hands Analysis (2026-08-07). This confirms idea inventory, not final quality: several early candidates were later killed, held, corrected or left explicitly data-dependent.

The scarce resource is therefore signal, not ideas. It is realistic to screen and compare 3–5 candidates. It is not credible to promise decision-grade validation of all 3–5, and it is not yet credible to promise that even one can be launched and measured as a proper torpedo inside the remaining window. One decision-grade candidate is more valuable than five weak pages dressed as opportunities.

The honest commitment is:

Torpedo definition and launch gate

A proper torpedo is a live intervention with interpretable measurement, not a hypothesis page, interview round, dashboard, account review, test design or unmeasured implementation. All six conditions must be true:

  1. accessible, interpretable data;
  2. a named MN owner and implementer;
  3. a stable baseline and eligible population;
  4. an implemented, reversible intervention;
  5. pre-registered metrics and guardrails;
  6. enough observation time to produce an interpretable result.

If that gate is not clear by the end of the second working week, do not launch something superficial in the final week merely to satisfy the noun.

Consequential boundaries

  1. Exact dates. Ask for the board meeting date now. “End of the first week” is insufficient for a three-days-prior circulation commitment.
  2. Signature. The engagement remains unsigned. Robertas has acknowledged that as MN's responsibility. Accepting the target must not silently convert the remaining pre-signature period into undefined unpaid exposure.
  3. Stage definitions. Candidate count, screening count, decision-grade validation, launch and measured result are different things. Define the threshold for each and never use “tested” to blur them together.
  4. Internal evidence access. The internal side depends on Simonas's data/access path and named MN counterparts. Lee reports that almost an entire working day was consumed getting the MN database connection through Simonas. This may have been the main unlock, but if the same pattern repeats, access friction will consume a material part of the research window. That is an MN dependency, not evidence that Kairos failed to generate ideas.
  5. External signal access. Desk research can establish market shape, precedents and cheap falsifiers. Strong demand signal may still require buyer conversations, design partners, pipeline evidence or paid intent. The remaining window cannot guarantee those external responses on command.
  6. Candidate versus pursuit. Discovery and cheap validation fit ordinary paid work. A potentially material opportunity is registered; material build, launch, outreach, transfer, or spend waits for a signed Opportunity Schedule. Kairos — Mammoth Protocol Architecture (2026-07-24) remains the gate.
  7. Lee versus Šaras authority. Lee can accept the trajectory from his side. He should not certify Šaras's capacity; Šaras must surface any capacity objection himself now.

Existing search funnel — not yet the final ranking

The filed corpus proves that the candidate-generation stage is already done, but none of these entries is automatically decision-grade or launch-ready:

The first working step is to build the common one-page schema and screen the strongest existing hypotheses through it. Most should die or be held. A rejection record proves selection happened; it does not turn the remaining pages into tested opportunities.

Recommended response position

Accept the direction, but correct the stage language. Tell Robertas that Kairos already has more than enough hypotheses; the real work is signal. Commit to screening 3–5, deepening the strongest one or two, and preparing one complete torpedo contract. Do not promise a launch. Launch at most one only if the data, owner, baseline, implementation, guardrails and observation window clear in time. Ask for the exact board date, close the agreement, and make timely MN access/owners an explicit dependency. Preserve the Opportunity Schedule boundary operationally, without making the chat reply sound like a reopened commercial negotiation.

This is almost exactly aligned with the trajectory we're already on. We already have more than 3–5 candidate hypotheses from the initial research; the hard part now is not generating ideas, but getting enough signal to distinguish a real asymmetric opportunity from an attractive thesis.

My one correction is the word “test.” In the time left, we can credibly screen 3–5 candidates through the same structure and push the strongest one or two toward decision-grade evidence. That is not the same as launching 3–5 real-world tests.

A proper torpedo means a live intervention with a baseline, owner, implementation path, pre-registered measurement and enough observation time to interpret the result. We will aim to prepare one complete torpedo contract. We launch at most one—and only if those prerequisites clear early enough. If they do not, we should return an honest no-launch result, not manufacture a pseudo-torpedo in the final week.

The main dependency is access. We spent almost an entire working day getting the MN database connection through Simonas. Hopefully that was the major unlock; if the same friction repeats, it will consume a material part of the remaining research window. Timely access to the relevant data and people on the MN side therefore needs to be part of the commitment too.

So from my side: yes to the direction and decision format. The commitment is 3–5 screened, 1–2 developed deeply, and one complete torpedo contract prepared if the evidence supports it. Launch remains conditional. Let's also fix the exact board/circulation dates and close the agreement now. Šaras, if you see a capacity problem, now is the moment to call it.

Draft self-critique

Opposing-review status

Complete as of 2026-08-12. Tris (Fable 5) reviewed the payment result, the ranking, and this note's reply draft through the claimed handoff lane. The draft below is superseded by a revised ~215-word version that incorporates the measured July payment evidence with its caveats: 2026-08-12 — Tris (Fable 5) review — payment result, Opportunities v0.2.3 brief, Robertas reply §5. Both remain unsent pending Lee's approval of exact words.

(Historical record of the earlier failed attempt follows.) Independent Tris review was not complete at authoring time. A sealed least-corpus packet was prepared locally. The sandboxed Claude CLI could not access its macOS Keychain credential and returned Not logged in; the required elevated attempt was rejected because the current user request did not explicitly authorize transmitting the private Kairos negotiation, WhatsApp, proposal, and voice packet to the external Claude service. No payload was transmitted and no reviewer model ran. The reply therefore carries Codex analysis plus Lee's pending approval, not an opposing-review verdict.

War Room status

The opportunity page and generated Kairos — MASTER STATE source page were corrected and deployed at kairos-war-room.leematulis.com/opportunities/ from commit c41a9f1, then merged and pushed to main. Static semantic checks passed. Local rendered QA covered 320, 390, 820, 1280 and 2048 px; dark and light themes; anchors in both directions; mobile active-nav containment; details; tooltips; theme persistence; full-scroll footer completion; and zero console errors. The branded anonymous path correctly redirects to Cloudflare Access. An authenticated Chrome session loaded the branded URL with the corrected visible copy, six-part gate, machine brief and cache-busted styles.css; evidence ceiling is synthetic-live-tested. Robertas has not yet completed the recipient journey.
